Google Mail service went down yesterday for some reason in majority of UK for an unknown reason. This affected a lot of corporate people who are using it for official purpose in order to reduce cost for running their own mail servers.Google reported that they are working on this issue giving the highest priority to it and following were the words published by Google on their Gmail support site.
"We're aware of a problem with Gmail affecting a number of users. This problem occurred at approximately 1.30AM Pacific Time. We're working hard to resolve this problem and will post updates as we have them. We apologize for any inconvenience that this has caused".

As Windows Vista became the most criticised operating system, the Retailers reduced their sales on Windows in their stores. Within a few days of Latitude's release, Google has introduced the feature of adding your location automatically to your signature. To use this feature follow the procedure below:
* Go to Labs tab under settings, Enable the option "location in signature " and save changes
* Go to GMail signature preferences and select "Append your Location to the signature".

Yet another feature released by Google on Feb 5th from the Labs. This latest features allows to you to have multiple Inboxes categorised into regular unclassified mails, Starred mails,Labelled mails and Drafts. AroundMe helps you to find out the information about your surroundings. AroundMe is an excellent application for travellers. This is a free application available on the AppStore. You need a wireless connection or a Edge connectivity(GPRS) on your IPhone to use this application. As soon as you launch the application, a list of options will be available such as Restaurant,Bars, Hospitals and Hotels. Select what you are looking for and AroundMe displays the places you requested for with the Address,Phone numbers,Map and many more. I am sure no one would like to use one option for sure, the option to know nearby Apple Stores :-)

Extract the QuickPwn-225-2.zip file to the Pwnage folder.
Connect your iPhone to the computer and launch iTunes.Select your iPhone from the list of devices on the left. Now hold down shift and click the Restore button. Restore is preferred as it won't create any wasted space on your iPhone.
Navigate to the Pwnage folder on your desktop and select the 2.2.1 firmware ipsw. Click the Open button to continue.
Once iTunes has finished updating your iPhone to the 2.2.1 firmware you may launch QuickPwn.exe from the Pwnage folder on your desktop.
Make sure you iPhone is connected to the computer and click the blue arrow to continue.Click the Browse button to locate your iPhone firmware.
Select the 2.2.1 firmware ipsw from the Pwnage folder on your desktop then click the Open button.
QuickPwn will check to make sure the ipsw is valid. Click the blue arrow button to continue.
You can now select whether to Add Cydia, Add Installer, Replace Boot Logos, and Unlock Phone. Select the ones you would like to perform then click the blue arrow button.
You will now be asked to select your bootloader files. Click the Browse button and select the 3.9 bootloader from the Pwnage folder on your desktop. Likewise do the same thing for the 4.6 bootloader file. Then click the blue arrow button to continue.
QuickPwn will now ask you to confirm your iPhone is connected via USB before continuing. Click the blue arrow button to proceed.
QuickPwn will now automatically put your iPhone into recovery mode. Once its in recovery mode you will be prompted to: Hold the Home button for 5 seconds, Hold the Home and Power buttons for 10 seconds, then release the Power button and continuing holding the Home button until your iPhone is in DFU mode.Watch the prompts carefully and follow along.
Once QuickPwn detects your iPhone in DFU mode it will begin the jailbreak process.
Once jailbreaking is complete QuickPwn will inform you that it was successfull. Your iPhone will then proceed to run BootNeuter. This process will take about 5 minutes. Please be patient. Your iPhone will reboot when it has completed the process successfully!

As expected the development team have release the new version for VLC player soon after the release of Mplayer's update. Though there is an improvement in this version of the player, the video display size remains the same disappointing a lot of people. The video is displayed only on the top half of the screen and impossible to view it in fullscreen. The new update is available on cydia source if anyone wants to try their hands on.

I happened to see the newer version of Mplayer a couple of weeks ago. As the older version was at its testing stages it had a lot of issues as mentioned in my previous post. The newer version seems to be much improved and a bits stable than the older verions. The Skip Forward, Skip backward works in this version without much of a delay and even the movie can be played at any point by dragging the marker which wasn't working in its earlier version.This update can be downloaded from cydia source.

Measurement labs has been launched by google for auditing the broadband speed at your home.Measurement Lab (M-Lab) is an open platform for researchers to deploy Internet measurement tools. By this way Google is expecting to enhance Internet transparency and to help sustain a healthy and innovative Internet. This in Beta stage now.
I tried this tool a couple of times and was not successful with all the tools available as the servers were down. But did manage to test the BitTorrent analyser Glasnost and the analysis was quite useful. This tool is to test whether BitTorrent is being blocked or throttled through the ISP or network administrator.
Google Latitude is a tracking software by which you can track your friends or your employees via google Maps. The software will be available for most of the smartphones,mobiles,blackberries including the Apple iPhone. This new feature has been launched by Google today and it allows users to find the approximate location of their friends and families if they have opted to share the location details with the users. Latitude also provides the ability of SMS,google talk or Gmail or to update users status and also allows to even upload a new profile photo.
